Introduced in House (01/14/1975) Museum Services Act - Authorizes to be appropriated the sum of $40,000,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1973, and for the next two fiscal years to the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare for the purpose of carrying out this Act. Sets forth a list of activities for which the Secretary may make grants to museums who apply under this Act. Provides that grants under this Act may not exceed 50 percent of the cost of the program or project funded by such grant. Provides that grants shall be distributed in accordance with such equitable criteria as the Secretary shall prescribe, but the total payments with respect to museums in any one State shall not exceed 12 1/2 percent of the total appropriation. Establishes an Advisory Committee on Museums in the Office of the Secretary consisting of fifteen persons appointed by the President. Declares that such Committee shall provide information and advice to assist the Secretary in carrying out his duties under this Act.
